Counterpoint, including him calling the Asian author of the below thread a Mongoloid and her pinned tweet ("hey, you. if you woke up this morning, that's a victory. i see you, and i love you. you've come so far. i am so proud of you.") inspiration porn.

Short version: he was only ever annoyed by his foreign classmate, with his broken English and his practice of leaving his books on the desk the person tweeting used, until he found out that the guy was saving the seat for him. (Someone points out that maybe it should have been obvious that the seat was being saved, as the desk was consistently available and empty at every class.)

Personally, I was saddened that the foreign student thought of Thomas as a friend the whole semester when the thread demonstrates his disdain toward him until he learned he was saving his seat. Then, and only then, did he pay attention to him. All because his English wasn't good and he left his books on the desk Thomas viewed as his.

Valid and important counterpoint. Nonetheless, I think him moment of (sort of) epiphany was important for him to share.

cathartic too!

Possibly back home a seat was a luxury and not a right.
