Seriously, what happened here?

I haven't look at this place in months, but I can't believe what I see as I survey the carnage. This place is deader than Hooboy.

 

All the bad, mean posters were banned or went away, and what happened? Exactly what we always said would happen: the rest of the people - the nice babbling cliched old codgers - would end up boring themselves, and every one else, to death. All that would be left would be a few drooling imbeciles and loons babbling to each other about nothing.

 

And that's exactly what is left. Virtually no thread has more than 10 responses. Each only has a couple of hundred reads. There is no life here. No soul. It is all drained away and zapped. It's just a sad, smelly carcass of crap. Corpses going through the motions.

 

I hope all of you learned your lesson - be careful what you wish for. You got the forum that you wanted, and now you are forced to look in the mirror every day and see that the forum has become exactly what you are (see above).

 

God bless Hooboy. For his sake, shouldn't this just all be shut down already? Please put it out of its misery.

It doesn't seem all that bad on here to me. I've been involved in a number of good conversations on here, made some friends, learned some new things.

 

In my opinion, that's a good message board.

 

Sorry if it's not hopping enough for you, but I'd rather have it be a little slower and pleasant than a constant crazy barrage of hate and meanness.

 

I enjoy posting on here far more now than when I first joined.

You are right that it seems to be much quieter here. As to the reason, I do not really know. Is it really because the nasty posters have been banned? Frankly, I do NOT miss those types of posts, so I am glad they are gone or at least, minimized.

I haven't been here since the beginning, just the fall of 2000. There have been ebbs and flows of controvery during those five years. The most notable ebb was during the days of Truth Teller which was a period more turbulent than last spring after HooBoy's death.

 

I agree with Doug about this message center. It is boring most of the time & I'm at fault as much as anyone else. What Doug did not say is that EscortSpeak has failed completely. Put all the Nasty Girls on one message center and they tear each other apart. I had high hopes for EscortSpeak, but now every thread is an argument and, even worse, a boring argument. If Doug responds, he will mention the number of hits per day on EscortSpeak. By now MaleEscortReview may be getting more hits per day.

For many people this site is visited as an antidote to the drudgery of their everyday lives... a place one visits to escape bitterness and animosity. Others who are more fortunate to lead a happier existence can use it as an outlet to bring even further enjoyment into their lives.

 

Fortunately, I find that most of the participants on this sight have a sense of humor. Other non-related sites I have visited are full of rancor and savagery where every word every phrase posted is scrutinized and over analyzed... not a fun place to visit no matter what your outlook on life.

 

“Seinfeld” was basically a show about “nothing”… sometimes “nothing” is a good thing!

I guess he's taking time out from contributing his own death rattles to the Mean Girls site to come over here for a change--without merely lurking, I mean. That place of theirs looks like the Gobi Desert these days, peopled only by a dispirited band of die-hards. But, you have to love the fact that Dougie is an equal opportunity stirrer, as he posted the same thing on ES, with the same aim. And I'd wager that both generate more views and responses than anything posted on either site has in a long, long time.

 

IMO, this site has definitely deteriorated, to the point that 99% of the postings are indeed the quality of boring pablum, that fewer and fewer visitors and members bother to read or respond to. Doug69 pointing out the facts and being raked over the coals for doing so, is equivalent to the proverbial "shooting of the messenger".

 

Hey, don't feel bad, as he'll probably get an equal reaction from the "mean girls" at ES from his reposting there. I bet they'll come to the same conclusion that all of you arrived at, and that they'll post over there: "well, they got what they asked for!"

 

ES was always a cesspool, where all the "mean girls" disenfranchised from this site, went to vent their spleens, and most every poster here, also went there and vented. But venting, like pablum, gets old and boring after awhile, and as such, it has gotten as boring as this site.

 

MER? I could posit a 90% accurate guess as to why it came into existence, but guesses, no matter how accurate, are not facts. It seems that posters from this site who left in self-exile and not banishment, those who didn't engage in either "mean girl tactics" or "school girl twisted panty antics of calls for censorship" or for other "business reasons", founded that site, to engage in the same discourse that they felt wasn't welcome here anymore, just as they weren't welcome here anyomore.

 

It seems, that they have been joined by posters from this site, but those posters tend to post mostly the same pablum there that they post here. Some of the "mean girls" from ES have also joined in, but, unfortunately, they are still weighed down by too much baggage from ES that they can't take that last step to return to the valued contributors that they used to be here.

 

So, everyone got what they wanted. CELEBRATE! and BE PROUD!

 

It was not an easy task, to take a vibrant site like this one with a diverse mixture of people, with a wealth of experiences and knowledge to share, people who had a wide range of opinions and personalities, that often clashed in a volatile, but harmless "no harm, no foul" manner, and shatter it to pieces.

 

So, instead of one great site, we have three inadequate sites, all of which, seem to be dying: one quickly, one slowly and one valiantly clinging to hope. CONGRATS, to us all, we did HB proud!

I also don't see any evidence of M4M dying. The number of threads being created and responded to seems about average to me. Perhaps it feels boring to those who long for the long bitch-fests but I don't think there's substantially less activity here. But I could be wrong, since I'm going only by gut feel.

 

And as for MER, well, I think it's way too early to proclaim that death knell. They're just starting out and I think they're doing just fine. They have some good ideas, a great-looking site and deep enough pockets and the patience to stick with it until it builds up. I hope they succeed, just like I hope M4M succeeds. There's room for more than one of these sites.

 

Escortspeak, though, does appear to be on its deathbed. That's too bad. EBG is a good guy. It was good of him to step up to the plate when it was needed.

As I said in my earlier post, I've been enjoying the friendlier message center as of late. Unfortunately, as the above posts can attest, certain individuals who haven't been missed are already starting to rake the coals again.

 

Perhaps the best thing we can do is to simply NOT RESPOND to any of their venom ... and if they don't get any attention ... perhaps they'll just go away again.
